I decided to try C 19, the Cocoon Nebula, again. This time would
be from the back yard in equatorial mode. At the outset of the
night, I did a goto to C 19, and it hit the neighbors’ house. I
changed the schedule to start after 11pm, and got the Pinwheel
Galaxy M 101 first.
The night of July 4th, I decided to image the Fireworks Galaxy. The
result was underwhelming, so I looked at the Wikipedia article on
it, and found out that it got its name because of an unusual high
rate of hypernovae. The Wikipedia photo looks good, so I’m guessing
that the photographer has much more experience and better equipment
than I have.
I installed the new software yesterday, and scheduled a mosaic of
the veil nebula again. I went from roughly astronomical dusk to
astronomical dawn. For a few minutes before dusk, I decided to get
the Dumbell Nebula, partly just to see if it was visible from my
usual spot.
I think I’m going to try a mosaic of the Veil Nebula, yet again.
The reason is that DwarfLabs released new firmware, which makes
improvements with mosaics, including scheduling and maybe the preview
of what the mosaic will look like.
This time I made HD 198626 the subject of the photo. I hoped this
would keep the framing closer to what I requested, but it didn’t
turn out very well. The framing is different from last night’s
attempt, but still not what I requested.
